Portland Fire & Rescue Unveils New Medic Riot Response Gear

EMS crews will return to their duties during protests starting Friday, though this time they will be looking a little different. Portland Fire and Rescue Chief Mike Myers suspended the team’s operations in March after complaints that their uniforms were identical to the Portland police riot officers they were embedded with. Lt. Rich Chatman walks viewers through the new gear.

The medic team was embedded with police at protests since the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The technicians are unarmed, but complaints were lodged that their riot gear sent the message the medics were partial to police during the protests.
