HCA Healthcare Completes Mission Health Acquisition

HCA Healthcare, which operates 185 hospitals and 1,800 care sites in 21 states and the United Kingdom, on Friday announced it has completed a $1.5 billion purchase of Mission Health, a six-hospital system in western North Carolina. Mission Health will now operate as a division of HCA Healthcare.
HCA and Mission Health entered discussions in March and signed definitive agreement on Aug. 31. The transaction was approved by the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office on Jan. 16.
As part of the deal, HCA Healthcare will:
Build a 120-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Asheville, N.C.
Build a replacement hospital for Angel Medical Center in Franklin, N.C.
Complete the new Mission Hospital for Advanced Medicine in Asheville
HCA also plans to invest an additional $232 million in capital in Mission Health facilities and create a $25 million innovation fund that focuses on improving healthcare service delivery and economic development.
