Welcome to the AES 2017 Annual Meeting
The 71st American Epilepsy Society (AES) Annual Meeting is taking place in Washington, DC, from December 1st through December 5th at the Walter E Washington Convention Center.
Attendees gathered at the meeting will include a multidisciplinary range of professionals from the epilepsy community, including clinicians, scientists, researchers, patient advocates, and industry leaders—all with the same goals of improving treatment and quality of life for individuals with epilepsy.
Symposia at the meeting will cover a range of advances and challenges in the epilepsy field. The Presidential Symposia, convened by AES President Eli M Mizrahi, MD, will convene Saturday morning and will examine complex issues in epilepsy beyond seizure management, including transition from pediatric to adult care, potential cognitive decline following surgery, management of epilepsy during pregnancy, mood disorders and self-management, and overlapping mechanisms and therapies in epilepsy and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer disease.
In his AES Meeting welcome letter, Dr Mizrahi urges all attendees to use the meeting as a chance to make new connections with professionals from various related fields, especially younger professionals who may have new ideas and seasoned professionals who have much wisdom to share.
