Alan B. Miller Honored for UHS Collaboration with U.S. Military

Universal Health Services founder, chairman and CEO Alan B. Miller has been named as a recipient of the Admiral Charles LeMoyne Distinguished Civilian Award for 2019.

The LeMoyne Awards are named in honor of the deputy commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command. Initially conceived as a way to honor high school students with standout leadership qualities, the award has evolved to now honor a distinguished soldier and distinguished sailor annually. The award has also been presented to civilians on occasion for making significant contributions.

Miller, the fifth such civilian honoree, has led UHS’s efforts to expand collaborations with military leaders and behavioral health experts. This includes the establishment of the UHS Patriot Support Program, which in 2018 provided behavioral healthcare treatment for more than 7,500 active duty military, veterans and their families.

Miller was honored for the award during the Ben Franklin Global Forum’s annual Army Navy Gala on Dec. 13.
