Severe Chronic Pain Medication Presentation Discontinued

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Purdue Pharma is permanently discontinuing a presentation of one of its pain medications.

Hydromorphone hydrochloride (Dilaudid) injection 1 mg/mL, 1 mL ampules, package of 10 (NDC 59011-0441-10) will be discontinued. The company noted that it was a “business decision” and indicated that no new orders of the product will be shipped.

In August, MPR reported that the company discontinued hydromorphone HCl (Dilaudid-HP) injection 50 mL and hydromorphone HCl (Dilaudid-HP) injection sterile lyophilized powder 250 mg vials.
