Recall: Blood Thinner Bottles May Contain Statin
International Laboratories Inc. is recalling 30-count bottles of 75-mg clopidogrel tablets, USP (NDC 54458-888-16), warning they may actually contain 10-mg simvastatin tablets, USP. The recall over the labeling mix-up was included in the February 7, 2018, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.
The recall includes 218,772 bottles of clopidogrel tablets from lot 117099A, which has an expiration date of August 2019. The tablets were distributed throughout the United States.
International Laboratories voluntarily initiated the recall January 4, 2018. At press time, the FDA had not yet classified the recall.
Clopidogrel is a prescription blood thinner used to prevent heart attack and stroke. Simvastatin is a prescription statin used to treat high cholesterol.
