RAA EMT Made Into American Girl Doll Following Niece’s Nomination

PRESS RELEASE

In June, American Girl, makers of the popular American Girl Dolls, announced its “Heroes With Heart” contest to honor frontline workers who have gone above and beyond. American Girl asked families to nominate a hero who has made a difference in their lives. Nominees could be anyone putting their health at risk to save lives and help keep people safe. Nominators had to submit a photo and answer how their nominee was supporting the community.

The nationwide contest opened June 8th and ended June 26th. A total of five grand prize winners were selected from submissions made across the country. Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) EMT April O’Quinn was nominated by her niece Lacey. This week, American Girl publicly revealed the winners of the contest which included RAA’s EMT O'Quinn. April received an exciting phone call from her niece last month telling her they had won.

“Lacey was on the other side screaming that we had won! I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say so instead I cried for her,” said April. “The excitement and smiles as she opened her hero doll was all worth it.”

Grand prize winners received a custom-made American Girl doll and outfit in their hero’s likeness along with a $200 American Girl gift card for the nominator.

“We at the Richmond Ambulance Authority are so excited for April and her niece Lacey. We’re thankful American Girl held a contest to recognize our frontline heroes and are thrilled to have one of our employees represent EMS,” said RAA CEO Chip Decker.
