Teen Shot in Head During Wis. Party Survives
WAUKESHA --
A 20-year-old man is arrested and accused of shooting an 18-year-old woman at a party.
The Waukesha Police Department said in a press release they received suspicious information about a 911 call on Tuesday. Initially the caller stated that a person had fallen and hit their head and an ambulance was requested. Later investigation revealed that the victim was at Waukesha Memorial Hospital being treated for a gunshot wound.
The police department learned several underage people were drinking alcohol at a party. During the party the suspect, Tyler Chaney, loaded a 410 shotgun with a 30/30 bullet. Chaney told police he thought it was just a shell and not a live round.
Later in the party the man took the shotgun and held it near an 18-year-old female's forehead and fired.
Police said since the round was not the proper size the velocity of the projectile was decreased. It struck her in the head but didn't penetrate the skull. The condition of the teenager is not known but police said she is alive.
Chaney was arrested on charges of reckless injury and has been taken to the Waukesha County Jail.
