GREENVILLE, S.C. -- A Spartanburg County Emergency Medical technician was found dead Wednesday afternoon, hours after the announcement of his arrest on child pornography charges.

David Michael Squires, 45, was arrested as part of a nationwide child pornography investigation that resulted in more than 125 arrests, federal agents said Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office said that Squires' body was found at his home on West Frontage Road in Campobello at about 5:30 Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy will be performed Thursday morning to determine Squires' cause of death.

Squires was arrested last week without incident at his workplace by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Spartanburg County sheriff's deputies. The federal agency is part of the Department of Homeland Security.

Squires was accused of subscribing to a Web site depicting children, as young as infants, engaged in sexual activities with adults, an ICE release said.

The nationwide arrests stem from an investigation focused on a commercial Web site offering access to videos and images of child pornography.

The Web site, which was accessible via the Internet, alerted would-be subscribers that subscribing to the site was illegal and warned them to be discreet about their purchase.

Those arrested were tracked as having subscribed to the Web site over a period about three months at the end of 2005 and early 2006.

Arrests have been made in more than 20 states to date. In addition, more than 225 search warrants have been executed on the personal computers of individual subscribers, and dozens of additional arrests are expected, federal agents said.
