First Med Relieves Employees Without Notice

The parent company of LIFE Ambulance, First Med, relieved employees of their duties on Friday at multiple locations without any notice and shut down immediately, employees and news reports indicate.

While several news outlets were confirming shut downs in Ohio, EMS World could not immediately confirm whether shut downs were occurring in the other states where First Med operates.

Employees who contacted the Fayette Advocate in Ohio said they were told the company “was out of money.”

Other employees confirmed to WSAZ in Portsmouth, Ohio that they were called in, issued pink slips and told the entire operation was shutting down, effective immediately.

Medcorp EMS, also under First Med, was also reported to have ended its services in the Toledo, Ohio area. An employee told WTOL 11 that the company broke the news to employees Friday night with no prior notice, and as of this weekend, its website was down.
