When the Provider Becomes the Patient: HELLP Syndrome, Pre-eclampsia & Other OB Medical Emergencies

OB emergencies are high stakes and can be high stress. Not all OB emergencies present with vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain.  Sometimes these emergencies are more subtle. Taught from the perspective of an EMS provider and ED physician who experienced severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome personally, this course will provide a review of hypertensive emergencies, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and other medical emergencies unique to OB patients. Pediatrics/Geriatrics/Special Populations Track Sponsored by the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.
