21 New Graduates Enter the Medical Device Industry as Trained Professionals
PrepMD, a leading post graduate training and placement service in the medical device field, announced the graduation of its second session of trainees. The 21 graduates exit the 6-month program job ready and prequalified for careers as specialists in the field of Cardiac Rhythm Management. More than half of the second session trainees have secured positions at the largest medical device manufacturers in the industry including Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Sorin Group, Biotronik and St. Jude Medical prior to graduating.
“We are thrilled to congratulate our second group of trainees at PrepMD on their recent graduation,” said Co-Founder and Managing Partner Matt O’Neal. “Professionals trained at PrepMD are entering an exciting, rewarding and lucrative field. This teaching model is also beneficial to employers because it provides a more efficient and cost effective way of training medical device specialists.”
Students of PrepMD have the added benefit of career counseling and placement with over 85 percent of graduates being placed in the top companies in the medical device and healthcare industries. While many trainees have been placed at large medical device companies, a portion of the graduates have also been selected to work in health care settings managing pacemaker clinics and other practices.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the success facing our students upon graduating from PrepMD,” said Co-Founder and Managing Partner Bob Mattioli. “Our primary goal is to thoroughly prepare trainees for a career in Cardiac Rhythm Management or Electrophysiology, and our success rate of placing over 85 percent of graduates in the field is a testament to the efficiency of this model.”
Students received approximately 1,000 hours of classroom instruction at PrepMD’s Braintree, Mass. campus on a range of topics including: cardiac anatomy and physiology, conduction system, EKG interpretation, programming, and troubleshooting of implantable pacemakers and defibrillators. The classroom instruction is complemented with hands-on work at PrepMD’s simulation labs designed to replicate actual procedure and clinic rooms.
