BIOTRONIK Champions Cardiac Research Advancements with Max Schaldach Fellowship Award in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology
BIOTRONIK, a leading manufacturer of cardiovascular medical technology, today announced its continued partnership with the Heart Rhythm Society and support of the Max Schaldach Fellowship Award in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology. In its eighth year, the Fellowship award encourages research training in basic or clinical electrophysiology and provides recipients with the opportunity to work with new, experimental techniques in an academic environment.
“BIOTRONIK’s passion for supporting important research that will further the field of electrophysiology is deeply rooted in our history. Fifty years ago, Professor Dr. Max Schaldach invented the first German implantable pacemaker and founded BIOTRONIK. Since then, we have prided ourselves on our ability to provide world-class products that make a valuable difference in patients’ lives,” said Christoph Böhmer, President International, BIOTRONIK. “The recipients of the Max Schaldach Fellowship Award have made great contributions to cardiac arrhythmia research. We are honored to continue this tradition in the late Dr. Schaldach’s honor.”
The Max Schaldach Fellowship Award will be awarded on May 10 at Heart Rhythm 2013, the Heart Rhythm Society’s 34th Annual Scientific Sessions in Denver. Recipients will receive a full-year, post-doctoral $50,000 grant given by the Heart Rhythm Society to help individuals in the cardiac electrophysiology field initiate world-class research as well as membership to the Heart Rhythm Society and complimentary registration to its Annual Scientific Sessions.
