Los Angeles, CA — The team behind the groundbreaking paramedic documentary Into the Unknown has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to support the film’s final phase of marketing and distribution. The campaign will go live on Wednesday 13, 2026, with a fundraising goal of $51,000—marking an exciting opportunity to bring the film directly to audiences who have been waiting for its wider release.
Created by executive producers Randy Mantooth and Kevin Tighe, stars of Emergency!, Into the Unknown offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the realities of paramedics—capturing the intensity, complexity, and humanity behind the profession. The film is directed by Tom Putnam, whose BURN documentaries share the stories of Detroit firefighters with audiences around the world.
“This film is about honoring the deeply personal and raw stories of those who show up when people need help the most,” said Mantooth. “It’s important that these voices are heard, and that their experiences are shared in an authentic and meaningful way.”
The producing team has also brought on board actor and former firefighter Steve Buscemi, alongside his producing partner, two-time Emmy Award–winning producer Wren Arthur, further strengthening the film’s creative leadership and authenticity.
“I started my career as a firefighter with the FDNY, and I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and courage it takes to serve others in these high-stress environments,” said Buscemi. “Paramedics are often the unseen heroes, and this documentary offers a much-needed, authentic look at their lives and the sacrifices they make. I’m proud to be part of this project and to shine a light on these incredible individuals.”
Supporters of the Kickstarter campaign will have access to a range of unique rewards, including rare items from the personal collections of Randy Mantooth and Kevin Tighe, offering fans and supporters a meaningful way to connect with the legacy behind the film.
The Kickstarter campaign will help ensure the film reaches broader audiences through strategic marketing and distribution efforts, empowering supporters to play a direct role in bringing these stories to the screen.
Tighe emphasized the broader cultural impact behind the project. “Emergency! helped inspire an entire generation and contributed to the development of modern emergency response systems. This film honors that legacy while shining a light on the real people behind the profession.”
By launching this campaign, the filmmakers are inviting the public to become part of the journey—helping to amplify stories of courage, resilience, and humanity.
