The California Ambulance Association (CAA) has presented Liza Lane, President and Founder of Revenue Lane and Chair of the CAA Payer Issues Committee, with the 2026 Harvey Hall President’s Leadership Award, recognizing her exceptional leadership, commitment and service to the Association and its members.
The award was presented during CAA’s 78th Annual Conference, The Next Shift: Adapt and Innovate, held September 23–24 at the Westin Anaheim Resort.
The Harvey Hall President’s Leadership Award is presented at the discretion of the CAA President to an individual who, in the President’s view, has gone above and beyond in their service to the Association and its members. It recognizes someone who gives freely of their time, expertise and energy, steps forward when leadership is needed, and makes a meaningful contribution to strengthening CAA and the ambulance community it represents.
Throughout 2026, Lane has provided significant leadership on some of the most complex reimbursement and payer issues confronting California ambulance providers. As Chair of the CAA Payer Issues Committee, she has helped keep members informed and engaged on Medi-Cal and Medicare reimbursement, DHCS requirements, provider revalidation, PAVE and other payer and revenue-cycle issues. Her leadership has extended beyond identifying challenges to helping CAA bring member concerns directly to agencies, seek solutions and provide practical information members can put to work.
“Liza is exactly the kind of leader the Harvey Hall President’s Leadership Award was created to recognize,” said Steve Grau, President of the California Ambulance Association. “She sees an issue, takes ownership of it and gets to work. Throughout this year, she has given an extraordinary amount of her own time and expertise to help our members navigate an increasingly complex reimbursement environment. More importantly, when our members have faced problems, Liza has been there alongside us looking for solutions. That willingness to step forward, lead and give more than is ever asked of her has delivered real value to this Association, and it was my privilege to recognize her.”
“I am sincerely honored to receive the President’s Award. To receive it from Steve Grau, a longtime mentor of mine, is even more meaningful,” said Lane.
“After many years in the EMS reimbursement arena, I found that agencies were facing the same or similar difficulties in holding payers accountable, but each going about it alone. Many were frustrated and some had all but given in to just accepting things the way they were.
“About eight years ago, these obstacles inspired me to set out as an independent consultant with the hopes of helping companies to collaborate more effectively and thereby make a larger impact. The goal was to share best practices, troubleshoot emerging reimbursement challenges, make connections with decision makers at the payer level, and ultimately fortify revenues for the industry, allowing operations to focus on those who matter most — the patients.
“As my practice has grown, so too has my passion for advocacy. It has been my pleasure to serve the California Ambulance Association’s Payer Issues Committee, most recently as Chairperson. The Board and its Directors have shown me unwavering support, for which I am so appreciative. These folks are some of the wisest and hardest-working leaders in our state who mirror my enthusiasm for the mission, and it is a privilege to be on their team.
“The CAA has provided the stage to strategically tackle the often complex issues facing EMS payment methodologies and, while we’ve made headway, there is more to be done — always.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me and the opportunity to serve the Association’s members. As I look forward to continuing the work, my commitment remains simple: to ensure that ambulance services across the state have solutions made available in order to garner the financial resources necessary to provide timely, high-quality services to their communities and to ensure access to care across California is sustainable into the future.
“Thank you for this recognition.”
Lane, who has nearly two decades of EMS administration and compliance experience, has been a longstanding contributor to CAA education and reimbursement programming, sharing her expertise with members on managed care, denials, contracting, billing and revenue-cycle performance.
The California Ambulance Association congratulates Liza Lane on receiving the 2026 Harvey Hall President’s Leadership Award and thanks her for her continuing commitment to CAA and California’s ambulance providers.
