The Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia Is Accepted for Embase Indexing, Expanding Discoverability of CLTI Research
The second major indexing milestone in three years places limb preservation research in front of health-industry professionals in more than 90 countries
A chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) study gets published. It has been peer reviewed, and its findings matter for limb preservation. Then, a vascular surgeon, interventional cardiologist, podiatrist, or wound care specialist searches for the data, and never finds it.
That is a real discoverability gap, and it’s the one indexing helps close.
We are pleased to share from our friends at the CLI Global Society that the Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia (JCLI) has been accepted for indexing in Embase, Elsevier’s biomedical and pharmacological database. Researchers, clinicians, and health-industry professionals in more than 90 countries use Embase for literature searches, systematic reviews, and drug and device safety surveillance. The second major indexing milestone in three years following Scopus in 2023, research on CLTI will now sit where those searches happen.
CLTI is the advanced stage of peripheral artery disease, and its treatment and the prevention of amputation span multiple specialties, including vascular surgery, interventional cardiology/radiology, podiatry, and wound care. With Embase serving as a central source across those disciplines, work published in JCLI is easier for clinicians to discover and put into everyday practice.
Barry T. Katzen, MD, President of the CLI Global Society, expanded on what the milestone means for the journal’s editorial board and reviewers: “Embase indexing is a meaningful vote of confidence in the rigor of the peer review our editorial board and reviewers bring to every issue. It means the research our authors are publishing on limb preservation and amputation prevention will now reach a far wider global audience of the clinicians and researchers working every day to save limbs and lives.”
JCLI launched in March 2021 as the first and only peer-reviewed academic journal focused exclusively on the endovascular, surgical, and multidisciplinary management of CLTI. As its publisher, we are proud to support the journal and applaud the Society’s achievement. This milestone belongs to the authors, reviewers, and editorial board who have built JCLI’s reputation one issue at a time.
