Smarter Technologies Launches as AI-Powered Revenue Cycle Management Firm Following Major Merger

Healthcare Dive reports that New Mountain Capital has merged 3 of its portfolio companies—Access Healthcare, SmarterDx, and Thoughtful.ai—into a single AI-driven revenue cycle management platform named Smarter Technologies. The new firm will support more than 200 clients, including over 60 hospitals and health systems, and is projected to generate more than $800 million in revenue.

Smarter Technologies integrates the capabilities of each company to create a comprehensive platform for optimizing health care billing and administrative tasks. Access Healthcare contributes scalable revenue cycle services, SmarterDx brings AI-powered chart analysis for billing accuracy and appeals, and Thoughtful.ai adds automation of key tasks such as insurance eligibility verification and claims processing.

Jeremy Delinsky, former CTO of Athenahealth and executive advisor to New Mountain, has been appointed CEO of the combined entity. In a statement, Delinsky said, “We recognize that healthcare provider organizations are confronted with growing administrative and operational challenges, and they need a new kind of flexible revenue management platform that brings together the most proven AI technologies with the lowest cost to serve, highest quality global operations platform at scale.”

Leaders from each of the merged companies will continue managing their respective business units under the new structure.

The launch of Smarter Technologies follows a broader trend in New Mountain Capital’s investment strategy, which has focused on consolidating and scaling AI-enabled health care technology firms. The announcement mirrors a similar move earlier this year when the firm combined multiple assets under the Machinify brand to enhance payment accuracy capabilities.

With the increasing issue of administrative burden in health care, the formation of Smarter Technologies seeks to position the firm to meet a growing demand for efficient, intelligent revenue cycle solutions. The combined strengths of AI innovation and operational scale are expected to drive measurable impact in health care billing and claims management.
