Now in Europe: RED™ 72 SILVER LABEL

Penumbra Inc., the world’s leading thrombectomy company, has secured CE Mark for RED™ 72 SILVER LABEL and RED 72 SILVER LABEL with SENDit™ Technology, which includes significant updates to Penumbra’s large-bore reperfusion catheter, RED 72.

The RED 72 SILVER LABEL devices are reperfusion catheters designed for acute ischemic stroke. Direct aspiration with RED 72 SILVER LABEL can provide a fast, frontline option for acute ischemic stroke. The COMPASS Trial has shown aspiration catheters to be equal to stent retrievers in first pass success.¹

Developed for speed and ease of navigation, the new RED 72 SILVER LABEL features meticulously blended transition zones to better accommodate the natural anatomy of the brain. Adapted from the popular RED 43 and RED 62 catheters, the RED 72 SILVER LABEL features Penumbra’s latest engineering enhancements.

The new RED 72 SILVER LABEL with SENDit Technology is designed to minimize the ledge effect, simplify preparation, and ease delivery in LVO.

RED 72 SILVER LABEL was released in the US in April 2025 and has therefore been available to US physicians in the past year.

RED 72 SILVER LABEL has a .072″ (1.83 mm) Lumen and a .085″ (2.16 mm) outer diameter. It comes in the length of 132 cm to reach target vessels.

RED 72 SILVER LABEL and RED 72 SILVER LABEL with SENDit technology are available as separate catheters or pre-packaged with Penumbra’s THUNDERBOLT™ – the first device with computer-assisted modulated aspiration for stroke care.
