NPF Launches First Psoriatic Arthritis Action Week

The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) recently announced its first Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Action Week. The campaign goal is to provide patients concrete ways to live and work with PsA, while providing information about diagnosis and treatment options. This week will also help patients with psoriasis learn the symptoms of PsA.

NPF will begin its PsA Action Week on May 1, 2017 with the launch of an informational website that provides resources for people living with both psoriasis and PsA. The website will include a screening tool for patients with psoriasis to see if they are at risk for developing PsA. Patients with PsA who visit the website will be offered a questionnaire about how the disease impacts their daily life. Patients who submit their answers will receive a personalized electronic tool kit for managing their disease, and will be offered to speak with a representative from the Patient Navigation Center to learn more about their disease. For more information, visit the website, www.psoriasis.org/psa-action-week.

In addition to their website, the NPF will host 2 live events through Facebook during the week. The first live session will feature an individual living with PsA who will speak about working with the Patient Navigation Center to manage their disease. The second live session will feature rheumatologist R. Peter Bonafede, MD, FACR of the Providence Arthritis Center at Providence Portland Medical Center. He will be interviewed by Patient Navigation Center Associate Director Kathleen Carter about various aspects of PsA.

During the week, NPF will also hold a congressional briefing in Washington, DC, to educate members of congress and staff about PsA. Attendees will hear from an individual living with psoriatic arthritis, Randy Beranek, NPF president and chief executive officer, and NPF Medical Board Member, Evan Siegel, MD, FACR, of Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, PC.

In recognition of PsA Action Week, NPF has published a supplement to its Psoriasis Advance Magizine called PsA Active Magazine.
