Predictable Cost of Care Working Group Phase 2 Update: Building the Model
Decision support for oncology treatment has been at the forefront of oncology decision-making for over 20 years, yet the methods in which we evaluate and select regimens for a pathway has remained the same. Within our community, we have all asked ourselves, how could this be better? How can our decision-making be better informed to support pathway development? How can we make this process transparent and equitable for pathway developers.
Over the last two years, the Predictable Cost of Care Working Group has sought to answer these questions, with the goal of developing a framework to calculate the predictable cost of cancer treatment. Our panel will discuss the opportunity and impact of this work, methods used, and obstacles we have had to overcome during this journey. The session will also dive into the complicated landscape of decision-making, and if this model will have a real impact. Attendees will leave the session understanding the elements that comprise predictable costs of care and the parameters through which a pathway committee will review and evaluate them.
