Introduction/Background/Significance: Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a Hematological malignancy of B-cell plasma cell that affects elderly population. It is the second most common malignancy after lymphoma. Little is known about the disease characteristics among Saudi population. We are here reporting the retrospective analysis of molecular cytogenetic characteristics of MM among Saudi patients

Materials and Methods/Case Presentation/Objective:

In the period of January 1st 2019 till March 31st, 2024 all patients with MM were identified through our oncology data unit (ODU) after IRB approval (IRB 2023-94). A case reporting form was used (CRF) for data collection, and there is no conflict of interest.

Results/Description/Main Outcome Measure(s):

Over a period of 5 years a total of 54 patients were identified, among these 33 were men representing 33/54 (61%) and 21 were women representing 21/54 (39%). The median age was 61-70 years 16/54 (30%). The molecular cytogenetic studies were performed. None of the performed chromosomal studies showed any dividing cells at any time. FISH cytogenetic studies were not available in 34/54 (63%) of patients, while results were normal in 12/20 (60%) of patients who had FISH performed. Only 8/20 (40%) showed abnormal cytogenetic results. TP53 mutation was seen in 2/8 (25%), whereas t(11;14), 13q(del), & Hypodiploidy were each seen in 3/8 (38%) respectively

Conclusion(s).: Despite the diagnostic, prognostic, & therapeutic implication of molecular cytogenetic studies in patients with MM there is a need for an inhouse assessment method of our patients with MM
