Matching Bone Marrow Biopsy Technique to the Clinical Scenario: A Decision Framework for Practice
The workflow outlined here is specific to the BD Trek™ Powered Bone Biopsy System. While common principles exist across powered bone biopsy systems, features, controls and operational characteristics may vary by device.
*Data on file. BD. The 11G x 10 cm BD Trek™ Bone Marrow Biopsy System (n=10) and 11G x 10 cm Jamshidi Evolve™ Bone Marrow Biopsy Needle (n=10) were tested in a solid foam test medium. Mean sampling time was 2.9s for BD Trek™ Biopsy System and 13.2s for Jamshidi Evolve™ Biopsy Needle. Mean force applied was 20lbs for BD Trek™ Biopsy System and 30lbs for Jamshidi Evolve™ Biopsy Needle. Bench data may not be representative of clinical outcomes. Different test methods may yield different results.
**Bench test. Data on file. BD. The BD Trek™ Power Driver and the Teleflex® Arrow® OnControl® Power Driver were tested for the same amount of cycles (N=6) in an unloaded condition at a 3-foot distance. The BD Trek™ Power Driver had an average sound level that was 13.8 dB lower than the Teleflex® Arrow® OnControl® Power Driver at full speed in an unloaded condition. Bench data may not be representative of clinical outcomes. Different test methods may yield different results.
